Overview

IEC–Bihar strengthens learning outcomes in government schools through a competency-based education (CBE) approach. The programme integrates system engagement, classroom reform, and community participation to drive sustainable improvements in education delivery. Implemented under the SUNDESH umbrella with support from the Emeritus Chairperson (earlier supported by the Chairperson), the initiative reflects sustained leadership commitment to systemic education reform in Bihar.

Field Visit – Key Highlights

Leadership on Ground:
Dr. Poonam Parihar and Mr. Rahul Saxena visited IEC-supported clusters in Jehanabad and
Madhubani to review implementation, observe classrooms, and engage with teachers and
system stakeholders.

Classroom Practice:
Observed adoption of activity-based, CBE-aligned learning, with higher student participation
and improved conceptual clarity.

System Linkages:
Strong mentoring support and institutional alignment with DIET Jehanabad, aligned with
SCERT and district academic planning.

Appreciation: The DIET Principal, Jehanabad commended the programme’s practical
classroom integration and scalability potential.
